Alex Joseph Demyan, 89 of Mansfield passed away March 11, 2015 at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home.
Alex was born October 2, 1925 in Mansfield to Alex and Flora Jonas Demyan. He was an Air Force Veteran serving during World War II, and graduated from Ashland College. Alex started working at Peabody Barnes in 1950 in the accounting department and after 38 years he retired as the Executive Vice President. He was a member of the Jaycees, North Central Accounting, Amvets, Southwest Little League, and St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where he was on the finance committee for nine years. He enjoyed traveling, golfing and many sporting events.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years Janet Hamilton Demyan; children Alex J. (Jill) Demyan Jr. of Kenner, LA, Jay E. Demyan of Mansfield, Janell C. (Warren) Bendler of South Euclid, Michael B. (Cindy) Demyan of Dublin; grandchildren Matthew (Mindy) Demyan, Rachel Demyan, Alissa (fiance Steve) Bendler, Emily Bendler; great-grandchildren Jacob, Logan; brothers George Demyan of Mansfield, Edward (Rita) Demyan of Louisville, KY; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Nick and Steve; sister-in-law Lindy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Friday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. Jeremy Miller officiating. Calling hours will take place one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spartan Boosters.
