Shelby FCCLA to dedicate stadium chair to honor POW/MIA

The Shelby community will gather on Sept. 19 at 6:15 p.m. at the Whippet Athletic Complex for a special dedication ceremony.

Defeating Elida 49-21 in the opening round of the playoffs, Shelby improved to 11-0 and will host a second home playoff game next week.

Whichever unbeaten emerges victorious Friday will clinch at least a share of the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference crown.

Friday’s ceremony was a moving moment, reinforcing the impact Chuck Ridenour had not only on Whippet football, but all Shelby sports programs.

Shelby hit its stride in the second half of the second Grant Milliron Game, defeating Madison 40-14 on Friday night.

Early registration is now open for the Shelby High School All Alumni Weekend to be presented Oct. 4-6, 2024.

Browning, Shelby City Schools superintendent, recently completed his first year leading the district. He was hired in April 2023.

Dan Miller, the district’s director of buildings and grounds, shared a presentation before members of the Shelby Board of Education Monday.

After finding themselves in a tie game at halftime, Shelby flipped a switch and fought their way to a 36-21 MOAC victory over Clear Fork.
