Registration is open for the Shelby High School All Alumni Weekend to be presented Oct. 4-6.

SHELBY — Early registration is now open for the Shelby High School All Alumni Weekend to be presented Oct. 4 to 6, 2024.

Find a complete list of events and registration links at shelbywhippetsalumni.org/events. Registration by check can also be made via a paper form downloaded from the website.

Gather with fellow SHS alumni at 5 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Whippet Athletic Complex for a pre-game tailgate. Support the Whippet band by purchasing food from their booth.

Those pre-registered by Aug. 1 will receive a swag bag of Whippet novelties and area restaurant coupons.

Listen to SHS alum Kurt Barkdull as Kaptain Kurt and catch up with classmates and friends at familiar haunts and new gathering places in downtown Shelby during and after the varsity football game.

Saturday activities and events

Saturday, gather at Black Fork Commons Plaza at 10 a.m. to listen to Shelby’s Past, Present and Future. Take a stroll down Main Street to discover new shops and restaurants.

Shelby’s Morton School House, Shelby Museum, Oakland Cemetery, genealogy lookups in the Sutter Roush Room, Shelby Bicycle Museum in the Justice Center and the Marvin Memorial Library will all be open for tours from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tour Shelby High School and the pre-K–8 building from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. before the Hall of Distinction. The SHS Alumni Association will open their archives of Whippet memorabilia for viewing in the high school rotunda.

Visitors can also view the updated Veterans Roll Call Wall in the high school and honor
alumni’s notable at the Hall of Distinction ceremony at 4:30 p.m.

Following the ceremony Saturday evening, join the SHS Alumni Association for the Red and Gray Reception at 6 p.m. at the Kehoe Center.

Enjoy an unforgettable “Taste of Shelby” experience, featuring an enticing selection of heavy hors d’oeuvres and sumptuous desserts made possible by the generous sponsorship of our local restaurants, bakeries and caterers.

Following the reception, stick around for trivia, music and dancing until 11 p.m. by Shelby’s very own, Ed Gutchall of Entertaining Ed’s DJ Service.

Tickets for the reception are $25 and can be purchased online at shelbywhippetsalumni.org/events.

Remembrance ceremony set for Oct. 6

A remembrance ceremony is planned for noon Sunday Oct. 6 at the Black Fork Commons Plaza. It’s one last chance to gather, remember those classmates who departed way too soon and grab a bite to eat at a local food truck. Please RSVP online for the event.
