MANSFIELD — Two people were hospitalized and traffic was impacted on Interstate 71 on Monday afternoon after a four-vehicle crash, according to Mansfield Post of the State Highway Patrol.
The incident took place near milepost 162 at approximately 3:54 p.m., just north of the Morrow-Richland county line.
According to the patrol, the crash occurred when a 2015 white Volvo semi-tractor and trailer, driven by 35-year-old Aden Ali Hussein, of Milwaukee, Wisc., lost control while traveling north on I-71. Hussein traveled through the median and into the southbound lanes.
A burgundy 2017 Mack semi-truck and trailer driven by 62-year-old Tony Caldwell, of Pineville, Ky., struck him. Also traveling southbound striking Hussein was Howard Endicott Jr., 73, of Columbus, driving a white 2018 Freightliner semi-tractor and trailer.
A red 2018 Chevrolet equinox driven by Lisa Knisley, 52, of Springfield, Ohio was also involved. Her vehicle sustained minor damages from debris hitting her vehicle.
Hussein and Caldwell sustained minor injuries and were transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital for treatment.
The crash is under further investigation and no charges have been issued at this time. Assisting at the scene was Perry Township Fire and EMS, Shelly Smith Towing, Richland County EMA, and Richland County ODOT.
