GENEVA — Three Mansfield-area athletes made their mark at the USA Track and Field Lake Erie Association Junior Olympic Championship last weekend.
Alaiya Beauford, Ocean Richardson and Avynn Beauford all took part in the event, hosted by Spire Academy on Saturday.
Avynn Beauford swept the sprints in the girls 9-10 division. She won the 100-meter dash in 15.89 seconds, the 200 in 32.89 and the 400 in 1:18.2.
Alaiya Beauford and Richardson competed in the girls 8-and-younger division.
Alaiya Beauford finished second in the 200 (40.66) and 400 (1:36.6) and placed third in the 100 (18.96).
Richardson was third in the 200 (42.18) and the 400 (1:37.7) and fourth in the 100 (19.39).
The top-two finishers in each age division qualified for the National Junior Olympic Championships at Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif., from July 27 to Aug. 8.
Blessed to Run is a summer track club coached by longtime Mansfield Senior coach Tyree Shine.
