James Vinson Roe

Jim Roe was one of a kind… his claim to fame was having two birthdays. His first on February 16, 1966, was in Camp Dix, Kentucky, to Ernest and Beatrice Roe. His second was April 17, 2006, the day of Jim’s heart transplant. Both funny and fun to be around, Jim embraced life, knowing how blessed he was to celebrate a 2nd birthday.

Ever the fighter, James Vinson Roe of Lexington is now at rest, after passing away Monday, March 9, 2015 in Cleveland Clinic following an extended illness. He was 49.

He graduated from Lexington High School, class of 1985.

Jim worked locally as a welder. Even through rough seasons, he remained a faithful Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. Jim enjoyed hunting deer and small game, and also fished locally and occasionally at Lake Erie. He loved music, especially playing the guitar. Jim bowled, and also golfed at area courses.

An awesome uncle, Jim really loved his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his brother and sisters: John and Becki Roe of Mansfield, Beverly and Dennis Scott of Bellville, Betty and Larry Coleman of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Barbara Pue of Lexington, Joyce and Randy Rinehart of Lexington, Jacqueline Roe of Lexington, and Tamara and Terry Hutchinson of Galion; “adopted’” daughter Sierra, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Beatrice Roe.

His family will receive friends Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.

For contributions in his memory, make checks payable to American Heart Association and bring or send to the funeral home: P.O. Box 3085, Mansfield, Ohio 44904.
