ONTARIO — A simple act of generosity can change a child’s Christmas, and this year the Ontario Lions Club plans to make that happen.
Ontario Lions Charities, Inc. presented a “big check” for $3,500 to the Ontario Police Department.
Walmart store #1539 hosted the presentation Monday afternoon at 539 Lexington-Springmill Road.
Since its founding in 1953, the Ontario Lions Club has spent decades serving the community through volunteer projects, fundraising and support for local families.
Ontario celebrates generosity
Ontario Lions Charities, Inc. gave the grant to the Ontario Police Department as part of its 2025 Christmas Giving Project partnership.
The Lions Club will combine other donations and toys collected from the Dec. 6 Ontario Craft Show, ensuring local children have a brighter holiday season.
Ontario Lions Club officers joined the celebration alongside Ontario’s Mayor, the Ontario Police Chief and officers and staff from Walmart store #1539.
Mayor Kris Knapp thanked Walmart for its continued dedication to Ontario families.
“On behalf of the City of Ontario, we want to thank Walmart for their commitment to the Ontario Police Department,” Knapp said.
He noted the long-running toy drive and the strong collaboration between Walmart and the Ontario Lions Club.
“They have played an instrumental role in making this donation happen, and we are very grateful,” Knapp said.
“This goes right back to our kids here in the community, and that means everything to us. Thank you for all that you do.”
This generosity came from a major fourth quarter grant from Walmart store #1539 through the company’s “Spark Good” program.
Walmart’s Spark Good program brings all of the company’s community-giving efforts under one banner and connects customers, associates and local nonprofits to support meaningful causes.
Organizations can access these resources by becoming verified through Deed and creating a Spark Good account on Walmart.com.
