MANSFIELD — Mansfield police continue the search for a man who killed a 26 year-old father at point blank range at a store on Springmill Street last week.

Devonte’ L. Jacocks Sr., 26, of Mansfield, was shot and killed on March 2 at M&S Drive-Thru. Two others were also injured by gunfire.

“No arrests have been made, no charges have been filed. Detectives are working hard to try to identify the killer,” said Lt. Robert Skropits a week after the shooting.

Jacocks, a 2015 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, was the father of two children — a daughter and a son — and one unborn son, according to his obituary.

“Devonte’ was a hardworking, loyal, loving, and motivating family man who loved spending time with his children,” reads the obituary. “He enjoyed taking care of others, playing the game, joking and making others laugh and smile. He had a smile that was contagious. To know him was to truly love him. We will all miss him dearly!”

Funeral services were Friday at The Oasis of Love on Chester Avenue. Internment followed at Mansfield Cemetery Association.

The Mansfield Police Department has asked for help from the public. Tips can be directed to Det. Ronee Swisher at 419-755-9784.
