MANSFIELD — Mansfield Mayor Tim Theaker has announced that due to high market prices, Dynegy, the city’s electric aggregation supplier, will drop program members back to the local utility, Ohio Edison.

However, this action won’t disrupt electric service for residents. Participates in the program will be charged the Ohio Edison price to compare. For June through August this rate is estimated at $.065/kWh and for September to May 2023 it is estimated at $.056/kWh.

In the meantime, the city is working with Buckeye Energy Brokers, the city’s electric consultant, on a new plan that is targeting a May 2023 start.

Customers may get a letter in the mail in coming days telling them about the change of electric supplier. Residents do not need to do anything at this time. If supplied by the local utility in March 2023, residents will be automatically reenrolled in the city’s program for a May 2023 start.
