MANSFIELD — It’s in the Bible — I’m not kidding — you can find it in Genesis 6:4 … There were giants in the earth in those days.
Those days were the early 70s in Mansfield, on Lexington Avenue. There was a giant who worked at a burger joint and carried a couple 4-foot trays loaded with corned beef and his name was Big Jacque — “the Big man with the Big sandwich.”

Big Jacque made quite an impression on the city but the neighbors weren’t fond of him and unfortunately, his smoked ham and Jacque burgers didn’t sell nearly as much as the Burger Chef down the street. So, in 1972, he left town.
Today he’s standing around up by Lake Erie idling in the vicinity of Marblehead, though the move was so traumatic he lost his arms in the process.
He still has that funny little moustache though, the last time I saw him.
