MANSFIELD — Waiting for last weekend’s snow to melt? Don’t hold your breath.

It’s likely to get worse before it gets better, regardless of what a weather woodchuck had to say earlier this week.

The National Weather Service office in Cleveland is calling for more snow Thursday night and into Friday morning. Snow showers will likely end before 3 a.m., but not before dropping another one to three inches of white stuff on an already wintry north central Ohio landscape.

In addition to the snow, the wind is gonna pick up. It will be breezy with winds out of the south between 17 and 23 mph, becoming westerly after midnight.

Winds could gust as high as 34 miles per hour, which means drifting snow that could make driving a bit of challenge on the last workday of the week.

Once the snow clears, things don’t get much better as the area prepares to experience the coldest temperatures of the winter.

The high on Friday will climb to 23 with gusty winds continuing. The low Friday night will be around 13 with wind chill values as low as minus-1. It will be mostly sunny Saturday with a high only reaching 19.

There is a slight chance of snow Saturday night with the low dropping to around 11. The high on Sunday will reach only 15 before dipping down to around 8 headed into Monday.
