Grab your pencil before your utensil. Whether you are trying to lose weight or just looking to make healthier food choices, keeping a food log will be key to your success. Tracking your food intake will not only create awareness, but it will hold you accountable to your diet.

Here are a few tips to make food journaling easy:

  • Log your food intake in real time. Don’t rely on your memory and wait until the end of the day.

  • Be specific on quantity. Avoid guestimating and use tools such as measuring cups and food scales.

  • If you snack it, track it. Write everything down, whether it’s a small piece of candy or a big meal.

  • Go digital. These days there are tons of food log apps designed to help you keep track of your food intake.
