MANSFIELD — The 42nd annual juried Ohio Watercolor Society Exhibition, will be on display at the Mansfield Art Center at 700 Marion Ave.
The “Meet the Artists” Reception is Saturday, Sept. 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sponsored by Cypress Hill Winery and Hudson & Essex, this dazzling exhibition of watercolors will be at the Mansfield Art Center starting Sept. 28 through Oct. 27. Thanks to the sponsors, this event is free and open to the public.
“The legacy of the Ohio Watercolor Society continues with this exquisite exhibition,” said George Whitten, Mansfield Art Center Executive Director. “There is a fantastic mix of the traditional transparency and contemporary spontaneity of the water medium that celebrates the confidence and passion of each artist’s personal approach to their paintings.”
Whitten salutes “the OWS artists, board members, and volunteers who make Watercolor Ohio 2019 possible and a magnificent success.”
The juror for this year’s beautiful selection and awards is William Vrscak of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Vrscak is a free-lance artist/illustrator and a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Society of Illustrators. His paintings have earned national and international recognition and awards.
The Ohio Watercolor Society, a non-profit fine arts organization, was established in 1978 to further the stature of aqueous painting as a major art medium and to assist in the education of Ohio artists and the general public. This highly competitive juried show annually attracts entries from the entire state of Ohio. Chosen for the exhibition are 79 paintings from 275 entries submitted by 172 artists.
Following the conclusion of the full exhibition at the Mansfield Art Center, and exhibition of 32 works will tour the state of Ohio.
