MANSFIELD — The Richland County Hall of Fame committee was formed two years ago to recognize residents who have contributed to both the region and our nation’s rich history.
The group is ready to move forward and is seeking financial assistance from local individuals and businesses to support its mission as a 501c3 non-profit organization.
“Our hope is to inspire future generations to the same commitment as those before us,” said Dick Baker, founder of the Richland County Hall of Fame. “We are asking for support through a tax-deductable donation that would directly aid us in making this hall of fame a reality.”
In its research, the organization has found that most halls of fame are created for a specific category. the goal for the local entity is to honor individuals who have made significant achievements in a variety of fields: Art and Science, Business, Community Service, Education, Public Service, Government, Military and Sports.
Donors would have the option of becoming a Gold Sponsor ($2,000 website creation); Silver Sponsor (($1,500 Induction Plaques); Bronze Sponsor ($1,000 website maintenance and associated cost).
“We are looking for one sponsor for each of those categories,” Baker said. “Those sponsors will be acknowledged on the website accordingly.”
One need not donate at a sponsorship level, as any amount would be welcome, Baker noted.
Some of the candidates for the Richland County Hall of Fame can be chosen from a pool that includes eight Medal of Honor winners, eight state or pro sports Hall of Fame honorees, five nationally-recognized politicians, three Pulitzer Prize winners, two Grammy Award winners, and an astronaut among many others.
