Fred O. Setser, 74, of Mansfield went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
Fred was born on March 23, 1943 in Lorado, West Virginia to Elbert and Edna (Spears) Setser.
Fred attended Mansfield Senior High and was a member of Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church. He worked at Grumman Flxible Company in Loudonville as a machinist for 26 years until they closed, then went to work as an installer at TSI, where he worked along side his son. He retired in 2008 after 12 years of service there, where his attention to detail made him well known and requested.
Fred married the love of his life, Doris Ann Mollett on Oct. 11, 1962 and they were blessed with 55 wonderful years together. Family was very important to Fred and he was very much a blessing to his family. He taught his family all he knew and was always encouraging and loving. His signature grin could light up a room, he was slow to anger but straightforward with a great sense of humor.
Fred could often be found tinkering in the garage working and building race cars as he enjoyed dirt track racing, he liked to always be busy. He liked to trap and turkey shoot. His wisdom and guidance will surely be missed by his loved ones, but the memories they shared and lessons he has taught them over the years will be forever in their hearts.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris Setser; children, Marlene Setser-Hellinger, Richard Setser, Edna (Bob) Daugherty, Sandy (Dave) Daugherty and Jennifer Setser (Dale May);
grandchildren, Bradley (Mary) Lawhorn; Joe (Amanda) Lawhorn; Heather Setser; Cody (Julie) Setser; Christy Daugherty (Rodney Ciesla); Bobby Jr. (Kalie) Daugherty; Melissa Daugherty (Raymond Fowler); Brandon (Heather) Daugherty; Amber (Kyle) Moore; Marc (Jessi) Daugherty; Katlin Daugherty (Stephen Stimens); Justin Daugherty; Sarah Daugherty; Kenny Marietta (Tosha Moore), Greg Marietta (Dinah Thompson), Trevor Marietta (Claudia French), Hope Marietta, and Ricky May; great-grandchildren, Bradley Jr., Brinlee, Taylor, Ariah, Zoey, Sydni, Laureli, Keegan, Kooper, Landan, baby Gracee, Gavin, Peyton, Zach, Haylee, Braxton, McKenzi, Nevaeh, Johanna, Kallee, Rylen, Sophia, Max, Braylen, Bentley, Liem; brother, Steve Setser; sister, Joann Robertson; sisters-in-law, Earnestine, Cathy and Twila Setser; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Laurie Setser; great-granddaughter, Willow; brothers, Bruce, Don, Johnny, Ronnie and Gene (Ladonna) Setser.
Friends may visit on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 South Lexington-Springmill Road from 4 to 8 p.m. Rev. Clifford Earl Tackett will officiate a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 at the funeral home with an additional hour of visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
