ASHLAND – How well do you know the scope of resources that are available at the Ashland Public Library for genealogical research?
A refresher course on the genealogical resources at the Ashland Public Library will be conducted on Tuesday, February 20th at 6:30 p.m. at the monthly meeting of the Ashland County Chapter, Ohio Genealogical Society. The meeting will be held on the second floor of the Ashland Public Library, 224 S. Claremont Ave., Ashland.
Sarah Kearns, Ginny Feiber and Linda Fulk will provide a tour and demonstration for the benefit of the chapter’s members and the general public amongst the many books, family histories, directories, maps and digital assets in the Library’s substantive genealogy collection.
Sarah Kearns, an associate at the Ashland Public Library for more than 20 years, is the popular author of “Ashland Memories,” a genealogy and history column appearing every other Saturday in the Ashland Times-Gazette. She is the primary staff member responsible for the genealogical collection. A lifelong resident of Ashland County, Sarah is a 1996 graduate from Ashland University. She earned her Master’s degree at Bowling Green State University.
Ginny Feiber and her sister Linda Fulk are the volunteer co-librarians of the Ashland County Chapter’s Genealogy Collection. Natives of Nankin, both sisters attended Mapleton High School and are the daughters of the late Robert Warnes and Mabel Porter. They are related to early pioneer John Warnes who was born in 1799 and came to Ashland County from Pennsylvania at an early age.
