James G. Sweet, 76, of Ashland passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 in his home.
He was born on June 20, 1940 to the late Otto W. and Marcia (nee McConnell) Sweet in Elyria, Ohio.
Jim retired after more than 25 years from Ohio Brass Company. He attended Garber Brethren Church. Jim was an avid Cleveland sport enthusiasts and also enjoyed watching Ohio State.
Jim is survived by one daughter, Kimberly (Tracy) Hill, of Mansfield; two sons, Terry (Linda) Sweet, of Mansfield, and Denny (Debra) Sweet, of Shiloh; six grandchildren, Autumn (Andrew) Herder, Tyler, Emily, and Ciara Sweet, Tiffany (Chris) Au, and Colton Hill; three great grandchildren, Noah, Trenton, and Abel; one expected great grandson; four sisters, Shirley Cavanaugh, Mary (Bud) Sipe, Carol (Jim) Lucas, and Linda (Don) Lawrence; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Icenhour.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by a former wife of 30 years, Mary Louise Sweet; one sister, Nancy Icenhour; and a brother-in-law, Jack Cavanaugh.
Funeral services will be held, Monday, June 19 at 11 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home. Interment will following in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
