MANSFIELD — Under the direction of Lori Turner, the Renaissance Theatre will host auditions for the Renaissance Youth Opera Theatre (RYOT) production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, May 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, May 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Ballroom of the Renaissance Theatre, located at 138 Park Avenue West in downtown Mansfield.

Appointments are not required for auditions.

Auditions are open to young performers from 2nd grade through 12th grade. Anyone auditioning should prepare to sing 32 bars of a “Golden Age” Broadway song in their key with accompaniment (sheet music is preferred).

Rehearsals will begin in June, and will take place during weekdays, from 4 to 7 p.m.; and on Saturdays between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

H.M.S. Pinafore will be presented for four performances on Saturday, June 27 at 2 and at 7 p.m., and on Sunday, June 28 at 1 and at 4 p.m.

The production will be presented in the Renaissance’s Theatre 166, and is a part of the Mechanics Bank Education Series, with support from Buckeye Express Car Wash, Inc. The performances are free and open to the public.

RYOT provides young performers with hands-on experience in acting, singing, dancing, and technical theatre.

Whether on stage or behind the scenes, students are immersed in the creative process, learning from industry professionals in an engaging and supportive environment.
