Warren F. "Dub" Eckard

Warren F. “Dub” Eckard, 82, of Mansfield went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Arbors of Mifflin.

He was born on January 31, 1935 in Marion, Ohio to the late Charles Edward and Olive Evangeline (England) Eckard, one of 18 children.

Warren attended Marion City Schools until he went to work to help his dad. Warren worked as an electrician for the majority of his life. He was a member of Mansfield First Assembly, and was an ordained minister.

Warren was a hard worker all of his life, always had a corny joke to tell, a song in his heart and a smile on his face. Warren’s family was the light of his life and his legacy will live on through the lives of his children and grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, woodworking, watching the Brown’s and OSU basketball and football.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Evelyn June (Merchant) Eckard; his children, James (Ann) Eckard, Beverly (Don) Wasserbeck, Kim (Greg) Mathys, Tracy (Denny) Hignite and Tara Burtin; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Allen (Jean) Eckard; sister, Judy Hickok; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Douglas Eckard; and 15 brothers and sisters.

A memorial service conducted by Rev. Thomas Blair will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God, 1000 McPherson Street, Mansfield. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the church on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Wappner Funeral Directors. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is pleased to serve the Eckard family.

Words of comfort may be expressed at www.wappner.com.
