MANSFIELD — IBEW 688 crew of a dozen volunteers has offered to replace and rewire the Land Bank’s first rehab project located at 845 Logan Road Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 starting at 8 a.m.
The property at 845 Logan Rd. was forfeited to the State of Ohio on Aug. 14, 2015 for delinquent taxes. The Land Bank took ownership Feb. 17, 2016. The house is believed to have been built in the mid 1940’s.
Jan Weisenborn, whose grandparents were the first people to live in the house, reached out with information and a generous cash donation to assist with the rehab. Other family members have come forward to express their appreciation that a beloved family home was being saved.
Other involved community members include The Area on Aging to identify a family to purchase the property after the rehab is complete. FiELD9 Architecture developed the rehab plans and offered the Land Bank 10 percent pro bono on this work. CMK Construction repaired the foundation and demolished the garage. Rex’s Landscaping removed trees and is going to assist with the final landscaping, and Morriscraft Home Improvement is the lead contractor.
The public is encouraged to take time to thank IBEW members as well as all of the companies assisting with this community improvement project.
The mission of the Richland County Land Reutilization Corporation is to strategically acquire properties, return them to productive use, reduce blight, increase property values, support community goals and improve the quality of life for county residents.
