Doris Ann Drevniak, 83, of Loudonville passed away peacefully at the Kobacker House in Columbus on Monday, Feb. 13, 2017 following a 2-1/2 month illness.
She was born Oct. 16, 1933 in Cleveland and was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Kulic Lakatos. Doris had a beautiful soul and loved to laugh and never knew a stranger. She enjoyed socializing with her many friends through the years, especially at Mellor’s Restaurant.
Doris loved to read and was particularly fond of puzzle books and watching Elvis Presley movies. She was a wonderful cook and made delicious Polish/Slovak dishes. Doris was particularly proud when the Ashland Times Gazette featured a full page article about her and the recipes she used in preparing many of her traditional Polish dishes.
For many years Doris was employed as the cook with Judson Hills Church Camp and retired as the cook for Mansfield Plumbing Products. On Aug. 18, 1956 she married Walter “Tony” Drevniak at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Cleveland and he died Aug. 1, 1986.
Doris is survived by two sons: David (Angie) Drevniak, of Loudonville and Anthony Drevniak, of Akron; three daughters: Marianne (Russell) Townsend, of Powell, Gayle Drevniak, of Loudonville, Janice (Mark) Stauffer, of Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren: Daniel (Jamie) Tyson, Christy (Kurtis) Baldner, Benjamin Funk, Nicholas and Jillian Stauffer; and two great-grandchildren: Thea and Finn Baldner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Paul Lakatos. Doris will be forever missed and remembered with much love.
A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Loudonville with Father Vincent Hawk officiating. A luncheon in the church hall will follow the Mass.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brookpark, Ohio. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, where Christian Wake Services will be held at 6:45 p.m. There will also be a visitation on Thursday morning from 10 to 10:45 a.m. in the funeral home.
