Sarah R. “Becky” Chronister, 87, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016 at the Mansfield Memorial Nursing Homes after many years of declining health.
She was born to Clarence and Edna Wells in March of 1929.
Sarah grew up on the family farm on Lost Run Road in Richland County, Perry Township. She graduated from Johnsville High School in 1947 and went to work at the Shelby Depot after the war, until it was closed.
She met her husband, Richard and later married in 1959. She was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. Sarah was an avid grower of flowers, and shrubs around her home as neighbors would complement her for her variety of flowers. Sarah was not a member of any organization, her joy was being a homemaker and being with family and friends.
Sarah enjoyed ballroom and square dancing, and going on family vacations, particularly to the western states. She attended Woodville Grace Brethren Church during the 1970’s.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Richard of 56 years; a son, David (Kimberly) Chronister, of Lexington, Ohio; sister, Betty French, of Mansfield; niece, Cinthia French, of Mansfield; and brother-in-law, Cloren (Emma) Chronister, of Mansfield.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; and eight brothers and sisters, John, Harold, Marion, Leland, Warren, Ruby, Mary, and Marjorie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Gene Witzky, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 at 10 a.m., also at the Diamond Street Home. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park.
