ONTARIO — The road to America’s 250th birthday started with baseball, classic cars and neighbors gathering under the summer sky Friday evening at Marshall Park.

Ontario Liberty Fest kicked off its Fourth of July celebrations early this year with a packed schedule of activities that set the stage for an even bigger day of festivities on Saturday.

The celebration opened with All-Star baseball and softball games from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and a car show until 8 p.m.

Live music took center stage from 6 to 8 p.m. while families enjoyed a putt-putt tournament, concessions and games.

Community members spent the evening taking in the entertainment as Ontario’s multi-day celebration got underway.

Saturday brings parade, pageant guests and fireworks

Festivities continue Saturday with a full day of activities beginning at 1 p.m., though organizers said times could change due to weather.

Parking is available at Ontario schools, with field parking off Milligan Road at Marshall Park, depending on weather conditions.

Saturday’s schedule includes the Fourth of July parade at 3:30 p.m. There will be appearances by Miss Ohio, Miss Teen Ohio and Miss Ontario candidates for autographs, a food-eating contest and other activities throughout the day.

A grand prize raffle drawing will also take place during Saturday’s events.

The celebration will feature its first-ever laser and pyro show, scheduled to begin around 10:05 p.m.

Fireworks will also start at approximately 10:05 p.m., bringing the community celebration to a close.
