Ruth Alverda Kochheiser, former Bellville resident, peacefully passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016 in her son’s Mansfield home surrounded by family. She was 95.

Ruth was born Oct. 1, 1920 to parents Guy & Millie Strome in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. On Oct. 8, 1939, she married Jack Carlton Kochheiser and they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage until he passed away in 2005. They were rarely seen apart and now they are together again.

Ruth was a retail clerk at H. L. Reed Co. for 15 years and also helped her husband run the family farm. Following her husband’s retirement, they moved to Punta Gorda, Florida, where they made their home for 25 years, returning to the Bellville area in 2003.

Ruth dedicated her life to creating a loving home for her husband and four boys. She enjoyed cooking and baking and everything was delicious! She also enjoyed her flower garden and raising lambs, chickens, rabbits, and pheasants. Ruth will be remembered as a positive and upbeat person who always “saw the glass half-full.” Never did she utter a harsh word and her friends and family will miss her happy-go-lucky personality.

She was a member of Shenandoah Christian Church when the family lived north of Mansfield and more recently attended Clear Fork Alliance Church in Bellville.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law Larry and Susan Kochheiser, Donald and Terri Kochheiser, Jim and Marla Kochheiser and Jack W. and Penny Kochheiser all of Mansfield; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers Roger (Faye) Strome of Racine, WI, and Bill (Mimi) Strome of Mansfield; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family; and her best feline friend Boomer.

In addition to her loving husband Jack, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Clifford Strome, and a sister Avilee Shaffer.

The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Clear Fork Alliance Church, 1008 Ohio 97 East, Bellville. A funeral service, giving glory to God for the life of Ruth Kochheiser, will begin at 1 p.m. after the calling hours. Rev. Dr. Michael V. Stine will officiate and burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to Hospice of North Central Ohio or to Clear Fork Alliance Church may be made at her services.
