MANSFIELD — North central Ohio could be looking at a severe weather situation on Thursday afternoon, noted Mike Bailey, director of the Richland County Emergency Management Association.

Bailey pointed to a forecast that includes strong winds, large hail and heavy rain in a weather system that’s expected to slam into the region between 3 and 7 p.m. Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, hot and humid conditions are expected Thursday. Highs will be in the upper 80s with heat index values from the mid- to upper-90s. A cold front is expected in the area Thursday night.

Strong and possibly severe storms will be possible. Mansfield is at the lower edge of this system, with the epicenter focused along the lakefront.
