Betty Brown, 84, of Greenwich, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 in Tucson, Arizona, surrounded by her family.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” St. John 3:16
Betty was born in Cardington on July 29, 1932 to the late Arthur and Ruth (Foote) Wilcox. She married Samuel K. Brown on Nov. 29, 1960 and he survives her.
Betty was a loving, caring Christian oriented lady and raised her children with the same strong values. She was a proud housekeeper and regularly had Bible readings with her family. Betty enjoyed playing both the piano and accordion.
She was a member of Wesley Chapel where she served as a Sunday school teacher, was president of the Missions and served on the church board. She graduated from Chesterville High School and then attended Malone College in Canton. Betty then went on to attend God’s Bible School in Cincinnati.
Growing up on a farm, Betty loved the farm life. She enjoyed living on her daughter’s farm and especially loved watching the chickens.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters; Tamara Brown (Michel LaForest), of Greenwich, Michelle Brown, of Tuscan, Arizona; her son, Matthew Brown, of Galion; her two brothers, Norman Wilcox, of Mt. Gilead, and Maurice Wilcox, of Iberia; her four grandchildren, Christopher (Carrie Cross) LaForest, Kayona LaForest, Jessica Brown, Jacinta Esqueer; and her three great-grandchildren, Carter Smith, Evan LaForest and Sebastian Cruise. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son; David Brown, her grandson; Robert Michel J. LaForest and her sister; Shirley Wilcox.
Friends may call on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Wesley Chapel, 260 6th Avenue, Galion. Funeral services will be held at Wesley Chapel on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Chesterville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Missionaries at Wesley Chapel in care of the funeral home.
