MANSFIELD – Mankind Murals Inc in collaboration with Richland Public Health and local residents will assemble and install a six-foot park bench next to the new mural, “6:07 AM” which was recently completed at the Fourth Street bridge on the B&O bike trail.

Materials and equipment will be on site by 10 a.m. and volunteers are welcome to help assemble the bench, build a form for the concrete base. Families are encouraged to attend, and welcomed to bring an artifact to set in the concrete as a memento.

The project as a whole is transforming the Mansfield end of the B&O Bike Trail with a graffiti-proof mural, and intended to bring families together through this area. The neighborhood to a space is a place where walks, bikes and runs are safer through public art.

The society that has responded to the area has been through Friends of North Lake park and other community groups, with the shared mission of Mankind Murals to return North Lake Park to a space family activities.

Permission has been obtained to park in the Mansfield City Schools bus parking garage area directly next to the ball fields or in the large lot at the Arlin Field lot on Fourth Street. It is a short walk to the bridge from the school bus garages, there is an access ramp to the Bike Trail at the southernmost area of the lot.

The project coordinators and volunteers are planning clean up around the mural site, including painting and proofing adjacent pillars in the colors of the mural, and provide additional landscaping. As well as installing a small plaque in the coming months, ‘A Taste of Mansfield’ will be hosted in North Lake Park on Saturday, Aug. 27 through Mankind Murals Inc. The nonprofit is also hosting a water station during the upcoming Mid-Ohio 13er taking place on the Bike Trail on Sept. 3.

Water will be provided to volunteers interested in helping install a bench and beautify the area,
