Ronald D. Wells, 80, resident of Ontario, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2016 in Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
Born Oct. 6, 1935 in Zanesville, Ohio, to Ronald Edward and Ruby Gail (Johnson) Wells, he had been an Ontario resident for the past five years, and a Shelby resident for the majority of his life. Ronald was a 1953 high school graduate and attended multiple colleges including The Trevecca Nazarene University, Ashland University as well as Kent State University. He had minored in Education and majored in Theology, in which he received his Master’s Degree.
He had been a Diesel Mechanic Instructor at the Pioneer Career and Technology Center; and spent many years preaching at numerous churches around Shelby. Ronald was a member of the Crestline Nazarene Church, National Rifle Association, North American Hunt Club, as well as the OEA NEA.
Ronald enjoyed his time being outdoors hunting, fishing, and touring on his motorcycle. He also enjoyed reading and was especially passionate about the Theology of Christianity.
He is survived by his Wife Sanna Kay (Culbertson) Wells, whom he wed Dec. 25, 1955; two children Chantel Kay Leggett of Bellville, Ohio, Douglas T. (Pam) Wells, of Ontario, Ohio; five grandchildren, Todd, Cory, Jodi, Brian, Cheyenne; two great-grandchildren and two on the way; one sister Phyllis Palmer, of Lancaster, Ohio; two brothers Dave (Barb) Wells, of Ava, Ohio and Kenny (Lorene) Wells, of South Bloomingville, Ohio.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Harry Wells and brother-in-law Don Palmer.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday Aug. 5, 2016 at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. Douglas and Dave Wells will officiate with interment in Ark Springs Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
