Marvin Schlauch

Marvin Schlauch, 76, lost his battle with cancer on July 22, 2016.

He was born in Kulm, North Dakota on Jan. 22, 1940.

He was a member of the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960, and that is when he met his beautiful wife, Elisabeth, in Germany. Marvin was a 32nd Degree Mason Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus and the Elks. He loved his job where he spent most of his life constructing golf courses around the world. Marvin and Elisabeth traveled the world together.

Marvin had many adventures in his lifetime. He was a member of the Liederkranz and St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Matilda Schlauch and his brothers, Floyd and Lloyd Schlauch.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elisabeth (Hoffman) Schlauch; brothers, Leo (Pat) Schlauch, Eugene (Evelyn) Schlauch, Curtis Schlauch, Orville (Maria) Schlauch and Roger Schlauch; his sister, Rhonda (Eberhard) Aulbach; several nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. He also had many friends and former co-workers that were like family.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 28 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 South Lexington- Springmill Rd. A celebration of life service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Diana Barr officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Ohio Division Inc, North Region, 10501 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44106.

A special thanks goes to Oak Grove Manor and OhioHealth Hospice for their care during the last chapter of Marvin’s life.
