LEXINGTON: Alma Marie Peeples went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 9, 2016 in her son’s Greenwell Springs, Louisiana home surrounded by her family. She was 88.

She was born July 11, 1927 to parents Carl & Pauline (Stetler) Beckel in Columbus. Alma graduated from West High School with the class of 1945.

On October 14, 1949, she married William C. Peeples and they shared over 35 wonderful years of marriage until he passed away in 1985. Now they are together again.

Alma worked for General Motors for a time before working at her husband’s Insurance Agency, Farley-Peeples Insurance. But her main occupation was that of a homemaker

In spare time, she took pleasure in reading and crafting. She could always be found helping with Vacation Bible School at the Lexington Church of Christ where she was a member. She was also at one time a Brownie Troop leader. But above all, Alma cherished her family.

She is survived by children Linda Marie Such of Flovilla, GA, W. David Peeples of Greenwell Springs, LA, Janet Miesse of Columbus, Becky Hill of Portsmouth and Roberta “Bobbie” Hostetler of Lexington; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren as well as extended family.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

The Peeples’ family will receive friends Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where a funeral service honoring Alma’s life will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
