Nancy Carolyn Cotsmire, of Bucyrus, passed away very peacefully Saturday afternoon, July 2, 2016 with her family by her side, while in Hospice care at Kobacker House in Columbus.

She had been in failing health and recently had a brief illness.

She was born Sept. 20, 1943 in Galion and was the fifth daughter of Royal and Lois (Dewalt) Dapper.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gerald Stuart Cotsmire, who she married on June 16, 1962.

She graduated from North Robinson High School in 1961 and worked at the former North Electric in Galion until the birth of her children.

Nancy loved sports. She enjoyed volleyball, bowling, softball and fishing until the age of 52. Her softball teams were coached by her husband and they won many area tournaments and participated in several state and national ones as well. Nancy played many games of volleyball and softball in the backyard with family and friends. She was an avid Euchre play and still played well even with dementia until the last couple of years.

Nancy was a great multi-tasker, sometimes listening to her police scanner, while watching a ball game on TV, listening to a ball game on the radio and doing a crossword puzzle all at the same time. She always had a garden and loved to can and freeze vegetables.

Nancy attended church at St. Paul’s Lutheran in North Robinson and had perfect attendance in Sunday school all the way through high school.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Darla (Rob) Hadsell, Kevin (Beth) Cotsmire, Jerry (Sherrie) Cotsmire, Mark (Beth) Cotsmire and Mike (Julie) Cotsmire; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters Joan Winch, Shirley Feurer, Althea Robinson and Waunita Thomas and a brother Royal Dapper.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Stirm.

There will be a private service for the family. Burial will be in Crawford County Memory Gardens, Crestline at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kobacher House in care of the funeral home.
