MANSFIELD — There were plenty of smiles Saturday at Richland Carrousel Park for the annual easter egg hunt.

Divided into three sections surrounding the Carrousel , 1- to 4-year olds, 5- to 7-year olds and 8- to 10-year olds – the egg hunters packed the grassy patches with anticipation.

Volunteer Bob Hunn raised his hand at 11 a.m. signaling the begging of a 45-second egg scramble.

“We love this; we do so much for little children. And this is one we enjoy as much as anything else,” Hunn said of the Carrousel hosting the event. “It’s a lot of children, and notice they are all very good at helping each other.”

Hunn said preparation for the event takes a lot longer than the event itsself, making light of how quickly the hunt was over.

“Notice you won’t see any eggs left to pick up, but we enjoy doing it. We were blessed with beautiful weather (Sunny, 40 degrees).”

Crystal Adkins and her daughter Lacey Savage participated in their first Carrousel Park Easter Egg Hunt, competing in the 1- to 4-year old division.

“We usually do little ones at home, but we saw the Carrousel was having one, and we love the Carrousel.”

Ten-year old Aiden Skok, of Madison Middle School, said he was excited for the egg hunt because he gets candy.

He said his strategy for collecting eggs is to run up to as many eggs he can, and open the eggs after the hunt is over.

“I’m going to another one,” Aiden said.

He said he did not know where he was going, just that his father was driving.
