Ralph V. Reed loved visiting with family and close friends. He always had a story to tell. Ralph, 84, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Kobacker House in Columbus.

He was born Feb. 27, 1932 in Cecil, Ohio, and was the son of Walter and Catherine (Van Vorce) Reed.

Ralph proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Technical Writer for ITT in Galion and later with Galion Manufacturing and then with Ohio Locomotive Crane, retiring in 1997.

Ralph was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading, gardening and was a collector of many things.

He is survived by his wife Mary A. (Schlosser) Reed, of Galion; sons Bradley (Lisa) Reed, of Dublin and Jeffrey (Sara) Reed, of Delaware; seven grandchildren Natalie, Rachel, Joshua, Matthew, Tyler, Carson and Graham.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Ila Beatty and Evelyn Gubbins.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2016 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 S. Market St., Galion, Ohio, 44833. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Christ United Methodist Church, 130 E. Walnut St. Galion with Rev. Jerry Penrod officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy and Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
