MANSFIELD — Programs on health and wellness will take center stage at the Renaissance Theatre for the second annual Healthy Living Festival.

Scheduled for Saturday, April 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., this free event features workshops, recycling education, fitness classes, a free community lunch, as well as a keynote address by Judson Laipply, inspirational speaker and creator of the “Evolution of Dance.”

Linda Snyder, a member of Be Well Richland County’s executive committee, said about 30 local health and wellness vendors will be present.

Fitness instructors will demonstrate how to do gentle yoga, Booty Barre, and Zumba — participation is encouraged. There will also be a quick and healthy meals demonstration by OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital and a gardening talk on seed starting by the North End Community Improvement Collaborative. Five-time National Tae Kwon Do Champion Natalie Hershberger, Avita Health System, and Annamarie Fernyak of Mind Body Align will each give a presentation, as well.

Each of the presentations will occur on the main stage, Snyder said. A list of when each presentation will be held can be found here

The free community lunch will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Snyder said about 300 meals will be served.

This event is organized by Be Well Richland County, the wellness sector of the Richland Community Development Group. The group’s mission is to offer programming that fosters constructive and continued conversation around health and wellness in Richland County. In support of this mission, the group created the Healthy Living Festival.

The festival is meant to spark a continuing community conversation surrounding health, connect the community’s health initiatives, raise awareness, encourage continued personal responsibility in improving health, as well as create a culture conducive to giving back to those with less resources for improving health.

Event sponsors include MT Business Technologies, Richland Source, Richland Community Development Group, Renaissance Theatre, Richland County Foundation, Mechanics Bank, and OhioHealth.
