MANSFIELD – Anything homeowners need to spruce up their home this spring can be found this weekend at the annual Mid Ohio Home Show, sponsored by the Mansfield Noon Optimist club.

The show is hosted at the Richland County Fairgrounds and will last through the weekend, from March 11 through March 12 and 13. According to Noon Optimist member Bill Spurling, the show has been a Mansfield tradition since the 1950s.

“It’s got from A to Z everything you’d want to do with your home,” Spurling said.

More than 80 vendors are expected at the Home Show. Spurling said home improvements can be found including lawnmowers, home security systems, roofing, heating and cooling vendors, windows and siding, and well drilling and pools.

“If you’re hurting after you do your home improvements, we have two chiropractors and a massage therapist,” he added with a laugh.

The Home Show is open from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The show also features a number of special events, including a pancake breakfast hosted by the Kiwanis from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, and an appearance from Miss Ohio 2015 Sarah Hider from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Admission to the Mid Ohio Home Show is $3 per car with free parking, and $2 with a coupon. All veterans will be admitted for free on Sunday.

The show is sponsored this year by the Schmidt Security Pro, the Mansfield News Journal, and Shearer Equipment. But the main sponsor has always been the Mansfield Noon Optimist Club – this is the club’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

According to Spurling, the Noon Optimist Club has been in existence since 1923 as a service organization. All proceeds raised at the Mid Ohio Home Show and all fundraising events go back to the youth of the community through scholarships, supporting local sports teams and many other outlets.

“Pay it forward – that’s what we’re doing,” Spurling said. “We’re trying to help the youth in the community who need it, one way or the other.”
