Richard L. “Dick” Logan, 87, of Galion passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2016 at Signature Health Care in Galion, after declining health.

He was born Feb. 25, 1928 in Galion and was the son of Earl M. and Minnie Mae (Foust) Logan. Dick is survived by his wife of 66 years, Geraldine A. “Jerry” (Seckel) Logan. They were married on Oct. 16, 1949.

He is also survived by children Sue (Thomas) Stewart, of Stow, Ohio, Mary Lou “Boo” (Dennis) Lutz, of Galion, Robert (Julie) Logan, of Mansfield, and Jon (Betty) Logan, of Galion; 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and a sister Beverly (Swalley) Leavy of Galion.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother Harriet (Wisterman) Logan; his sister, Joyce Ann Gehrisch, and two great-grandchildren.

He was a 1946 graduate of Galion High School and attended Ohio Wesleyan University.

Dick proudly served his country in Korea during the World War II era with the United States Army. He worked as a machinist at Cleland Manufacturing and the former Galion Iron Works. Dick also managed the Texaco Station in Galion, worked at Logan’s Furniture Store, was a service representative for Galion Dresser and also farmed.

Dick was a member of the American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4329, both of Galion. He was an avid knife collector and enjoyed reading and big band music. Dick’s motto was “a cold beer could cure anything.” He especially cherished the time he spent with his family and his beloved grandchildren.

A memorial will be held March 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Peace Lutheran Church, 129 W. Walnut St., Galion, Ohio, 44833. Calling hours will be held one hour prior. Military Services will be provided by the United States Army and Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail, and grandson, Maj. David Persons Jr., USMC, retired.
