Tommie Carter

Tommie Carter, 71, passed this life on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 in his home after an extended illness.

Mr. Carter was born on Monday, Jan. 29, 1945 in Rich, Mississippi. He lived in Mansfield the past 68 years. Tommie was employed with the Ohio Brass Company and remained there after the company transferred ownership to the employees and the company was renamed Mansfield Ferrous, giving 40 years of service between the two.

After Mansfield Ferrous closed Tommie was not content so he sought other employment. He found the Barbesol Company in Ashland for the next nine years retiring in September of 2015. He was a former member of the Spirit and Truth Christian Center where he was ordained a Deacon, and was most recently a member of the Kingdom Grace Fellowship Church.

Tommie is survived by his wife Dorothy Fuller Carter, a daughter, Chanese Witcher, of Highland, California, a son:, Overseer Tommie D. Carter and his wife Pastor Kim Harris Carter, of Columbus; two step-children, Alycia Sneed, of Detroit, Michigan, and Rodney Sneed, of Greenboro, Georgia; 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; nine siblings: Elsa “Jeanie” Carter, Permelia “Kay” (Bill) Henderson, Bevylon (Keith) Johnson, Lorraine (Kevin) Taylor, and Juan Carter, of Denver, Colorado, Kenny Carter, Emily (Rickie) Pender, of Columbus, Annie Davis, and Gloria (William) Lane, of Mansfield,.

Tommie was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Adella (Campbell) Carter and Nathaniel Davis, two brothers Kim and Willie Carter, a sister Dorothy Davis, and a step-daughter Darlene Pritchard.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 11 a.m. in the New Life International Deliverance Ministries Church, 426 Sherman Place with his pastor, Overseer Renea Collins officiating and his son Overseer Tommie D. Carter delivering the eulogy.

Friends may call at the church beginning at 10 a.m. until time of service.
