Carole L. Lupo, 88, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
She was born June 13, 1927, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Harold F. and Ella (Davis) Nikolaus.
Carole was a great educator and made a lasting impact on the children at West 5th Elementary in Mansfield where she taught. She was a well-respected lady and a devoted wife and mother. It was a priority for her to make sure her sons could read and had a good vocabulary. She was a classical pianist and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Arizona. She was a faithful member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ, where she served as choir director for over 30 years.
She is survived by three sons, Harold “Hal” Lupo, of Columbus, Steven Lupo, of Mansfield, and Joseph (Marilee) Lupo, of Pataskala. Also surviving are three grandchildren, William (Lisa), Michael, and Edward Lupo; two great grandsons; Domenic and Dylan Lupo; nephews, Gary and Robert Nikolaus; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and relatives.
In addition to her parents, Harold F. and Ella (Davis) Nikolaus, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Alfred Lupo; her brother, Robert Nikolaus; and one nephew, Kenneth Nikolaus.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, Ohio. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jared Ruark officiating. Burial will follow at the Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
