Malissa “Lucille” Welker, 90, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015.

Born Sept. 26, 1925 in Spencer, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Louis and Janie (Drake) Christy.

She was a Mansfield resident for most of her life and a graduate of Mansfield Senior High. She worked for Mansfield City Schools and New Hope as a cook. She was a member of Woodville Grace Brethren Church and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW #9943. She enjoyed vacationing, gambling and road trips but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Bill Welker; her daughter, Sharon McClellan; granddaughter, Terri Francis (Sam); two great grandsons, Logan Gibson and Christian Francis; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vern Welker; a granddaughter, Debbie Vanover; a great granddaughter, Christy Vanover; and several aunts, uncles and other family.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015 at the Diamond. Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield conducted by Pastor Gene Witzky. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
