Clarence C. Simmering, 87, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015 at Mansfield Memorial Homes.

Born Jan. 14, 1928 in South Webster, Ohio, he was the son of William J. and Edna L. (Kelley) Simmering.

He retired from Peabody Barnes as a tool and die maker and was a member of the Copus Hill Model A Club. He also was self employed, having owned Simmering Mower Service. Following his retirement, he restored a Model A Ford and continued to work on cars for friends and family. Although a quiet man, Clarence was a man of his word and a good provider for his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Sistek; two grandchildren, Jonathan Sistek and Lauren Sistek; three brothers, William Simmering of South Webster, Ohio, Lehman Simmering of Jackson, Ohio, and Fred (Sally) Simmering of Portsmouth, Ohio; two sisters, Minnie (Henry “Bud”) Adams of Wheelersburg, Ohio, and Linda (Gary) Hoover of South Webster, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Crystal Simmering of Calumet City, Illinois; and a host of nieces, nephews and very dear relatives and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Simmering whom he married Feb. 25, 1950; a brother, Arthur Simmering; a sister, Freida Johnson; and two sisters-in-law, Frances Simmering and Wanda Simmering. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 2015 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario conducted by Pastor Gary Wilson. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
