MANSFIELD, Ohio — A Very Old Fashioned Christmas at the Mansfield Blockhouse will take place on Thursday, Dec. 10 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The event will feature hot cider, plum pudding and cookies served by costumed re-enactors, and period music performed by Keith Metcalf.

Christmas at the Blockhouse, in Mansfield’s South Park, is sponsored by Richland Early American Center for History (REACH) and will be open to the public free of charge. Visitors may tour the Blockhouse and get an update on the progress of the first REACH cabin.

The Blockhouse is one of two built in Mansfield in 1812. The REACH Cabin, currently dismantled and in storage, is from same period and may have been an inn on the main route between Mansfield and the land office in Canton.

South Park is just east of Kingwood Center off Park Avenue West, so visitors can combine their Christmas tour experience that evening.
