MANSFIELD, Ohio – The Renaissance Education Department will launch the first of this season’s three Teddy Bear Concerts on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 2:30 p.m. on the stage of the Renaissance Theatre.
The original production, entitled “Halloween Harmonies,” is geared to preschool and elementary aged students, and features a professional string quartet from the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra, an original Halloween story by Renaissance Artistic Director Michael Thomas (“30 Rock,” “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”), and actors Maddie Beer and Colton Penwell. Children attending this concert are encouraged to come in their Halloween costumes, along with their teddy bears.
Modeled after the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ Teddy Bear concerts, the Renaissance’s Teddy Bear concerts are optimized for young children and their teddy bears, with plenty of opportunity to interact in a relaxed environment. Additionally, the Renaissance Teddy Bear concerts are sensory friendly, offering full accessibility to the arts for students with sensory processing disabilities.
Renaissance Director of Education Chelsie Thompson stated, “Music and the arts are a critical component of brain development, and our Teddy Bear concerts are an optimal stage for multi-sensory learning in young children. It’s a fun, relaxed atmosphere that allows children an early and up-close experience with the arts.”
Tickets for the Halloween Harmonies Teddy Bear Concert on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 2:30 p.m. are $10 each and available online at mansfieldtickets.com, by calling 419-522-2726, or by visiting the Renaissance Box Office. The Teddy Bear Concerts are presented as a part of the 2015-2016 Mechanics Bank Education Series.
