MANSFIELD, Ohio – The Mansfield Police Department took three suspects into custody on Tuesday afternoon after shots were fired in the vicinity of Park Avenue West.

Sgt. Nelson Kilgore with the Mansfield PD stated 19-year-old Rasheed Lewis, 22-year-old Lamondre Mosley and 22-year-old Antoine Boyd are all being held at the Richland County Jail this evening after shots were fired in an alley behind Planned Parenthood on Park Avenue West. Lewis is charged with failure to comply, Mosley is charged with discharging a firearm and Boyd is charged with falsification.

The incident began at approximately 3:20 p.m. with an altercation at the Park Avenue Drive-Thru before continuing into the alley. Kilgore explained Mansfield PD Officer David Johnson was the first to respond to the scene.

“He heard five shots,” said Kilgore.

Kilgore said the shots are alleged to have come from Mosley, who was standing outside a blue Chevy Cobalt vehicle when the shots were fired. After the shots were fired, Mosley climbed into the passenger side of the vehicle while Lewis was the driver and Boyd sat in the rear passenger seat.

Kilgore stated Officer Johnson ordered the vehicle to stop at gunpoint, but the vehicle continued towards Johnson and swerved around him before driving onto Park Avenue West. The Mansfield Police Department was able to stop the vehicle on Park Avenue West shortly after, only a few houses away from where the incident began.

Park Avenue West was briefly closed down after the incident while authorities processed the scene.

The Mansfield PD is currently unable to determine whether the five shots went into any nearby residences or buildings, and therefore it is unknown whether there are any injuries, said Kilgore.

“We have other persons of interest to follow up with this investigation,” he said.
