ONTARIO, Ohio — Local officials celebrated the opening of a new restaurant, Ninja Japanese Steakhouse, with a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday morning.

Ontario Mayor Randy Hutchinson gave a warm welcome to restaurant co-owners Xin Zhao and Yingling Ye, who are husband and wife. “We’re excited to have you here, he said.

“It’s always a great thing when you can repurpose a building that’s been empty for quite a few years,” he added.

The restaurant is housed in the former Chi-Chi’s restaurant, located at 2284 W. 4th St.

“I think it’s an exciting time in Richland County–there are a lot of new businesses opening,” noted Jodie Perry, president of the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce.

Ye said she and her husband are excited about the opening, but “a little nervous, too,” she added.

During the business’s soft launch last Wednesday, she said they received positive feedback, which she said was assuring.

The restaurant has 10 hibachi grills, a sushi bar, booth and table seating, as well as a private room for small parties.

Hours are Monday – Thursday from 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m., Friday from 11:30 a.m. – 11 p.m., Saturday from noon – 11 p.m. and Sunday from noon – 9 p.m.

Ye said they’re currently hiring and that interested applicants can pick up an application at the restaurant.
