LUCAS, Ohio — Hollywood stars Dan Haggerty, Johnny Crawford and Darby Hinton are appearing at Malabar Farm this weekend for the Hollywood Returns to Malabar Farm “Best of the West” event. The event got under way Friday and continues through Sunday.

Haggerty is best known for his role as Grizzly Adams in “The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams.” Crawford earned his claim to fame while starring as Mark McCain in “The Rifleman.” And Hinton played Israel Boone, son of pioneer Daniel Boone, in the show “Daniel Boone.”

The actors are signing autographs and reflecting upon their acting careers, including their work with stars like Walt Disney and John Wayne, during the stage shows. The shows, which last about one hour and 30 minutes, will include a question and answer session with the stars. There are lunch, dinner and matinee show tickets, which can be purchased here

People can also purchase tickets to meet with the actors during a celebrity “Big House” tour. Tours will be offered Saturday from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. and from 3 – 4 p.m.

In addition to the opportunity to meet with Hollywood stars, the Best of the West weekend event features horseback riding, collector displays, country music, members of the Single Action Shooting Society and a demonstration by Mike DiMuzio, who will perform difficult rifle tricks, similar to those portrayed in “The Rifleman.”

Further, there will be a 50/50 fundraising raffle with a grand prize of $5,000. The raffle is known as the “Meadow Muffin Bingo Contest,” in which a 50×50 grid will be laid out on the Malabar Farm pasture and each square will have numbered coordinates. Tickets will be assigned square coordinate numbers at random. A cow will be taken to the pasture and whatever square the cow drops a “meadow muffin” in determines the winner of the raffle. Proceeds go to preservation and restoration efforts at Malabar Farm.

In 2012, Malabar Farm welcomed Stephen Bogart, son of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, and Tyrone Power Junior, whose father starred in “The Rains Came,” a film based on Bromfield’s book, for a Hollywood Returns event.

“The Hollywood Returns theme is based on this idea that [Louis] Bromfield brought all of his Hollywood friends to Malabar Farm to relax, and so what we’re doing is we’re making an effort to do the same thing–to bring some Hollywood celebrities to Malabar Farm,” said Russ Hill, producer and host of Hollywood Returns to Malabar Farm “Best of the West.”
