Bruce E. Delahunty, 60, of Bellville passed away at home, Thursday April 16, 2015.
The son of Paul and Doris (McDaniel) Delahunty, Bruce was born in Willard on September 22, 1954.
Bruce joined the Navy in 1972 and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He was honorably discharged in 1975.
For 12 years he worked for the State of Ohio as a correctional officer. He also transported Amish, whom he considered friends.
A talented musician, Bruce played the guitar, piano and harmonica. Enjoying the outdoors, he especially enjoyed gardening and cutting wood.
Bruce humbly worshiped and served Jesus Christ, and as a believer in the Messiah, claimed His eternal salvation and grace.
He is survived by his wife Becky Delahunty; children Jesse Delahunty, Leah Eastridge, and Jared Delahunty; grandchildren Noah, Jacob, and Isaiah; sister Rosalie (Leo) Hahl and brother David (Colleen) Delahunty; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Calling hours will continue Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the funeral home where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Doyle Peyton will officiate and burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park. Military honors will be performed by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Snyder Funeral Homes to assist the family with funeral expenses.
