Mildred V. O’Neill, 86, of Mansfield, died April 14, 2015. Born April 11, 1929 in Long Island, NY, she was the daughter of Hilding Anders and Hannah Victoria (Peterson) Lindberg. A generous, happy lady, Mildred was a people person. She enjoyed singing, knitting, and cooking in her free time. Mildred worked at Kindercamp for 15 years at the local YMCA and also lead a Girl Scout troop. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where she loved to sing in the church choir.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, John O’Neill of Mansfield; sons, Dr. Charles O’Neill of Vermont, Dr. Kenneth (Cindy) O’Neill of Michigan, and Dr. Douglas O’Neill of Vermont; daughters, Lisa (Brad) Beams of Michigan and Dr. Christine (Dr. Greg) Prah of New Hampshire; fifteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Dr. E. Byron O’Neill of California; and sister-in-law, Sue O’Neill of Arkansas.
Along with her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her brother, H. Walter Lindberg; daughters-in-law, Marcie O’Neill and Sheila O’Neill; and brother-in-law, Charles O’Neill.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 West Cook Road, Mansfield, conducted by Rev. Carol Kilgore. Family and friends are invited to visit for one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.
