Margaret H. Eckert, age 89 of Leesville passed away on what would have been her 68th wedding anniversary to Ike on Thursday morning, April 9, 2015 at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
She was born May 31, 1925 in Galion and was the daughter of Clyde and Julia (Christman) Winch. On April 9, 1947 she married Ira “Ike” Eckert and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage until his passing on September 20, 2010.
Margaret graduated from North Robinson High School and worked for over 25 years at the former J.C. Penneys in Galion as a catalog clerk. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Leesville and enjoyed baking pies, canning, gardening and fishing. Margaret was very devoted to her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a wonderful caregiver to many.
Margaret is survived by her children, Connie (John) Bercaw of Ontario, Bonnie (Larry) Swanger of Mansfield, Doug (Faniya) Eckert of Hilliard; her six grandchildren, Todd (Kim) Bercaw, Larry (Darlene) Swanger, Tanner Radebaugh, Taryn Cox, Ben and Blake Eckert; her seven grandchildren, Morgan Kocher, Zach Becaw, Nic Buckner, Bret and Lauryn Swanger, Bronson Radebaugh and Reagyn Cox; her two great-great grandchildren, Adalyn Kocher and Abagail Bercaw; her five sisters, Rosie Fetter of Bucyrus, Florence Heffner of Florida, Martha (Wilbur) Cole of Crestline, Esther Armstrong of Galion and Joanne (Jerry) Haught of Crestline; her brother, Mike (Linda) Winch of Findlay and her two sisters-in-law, Joan Winch and Beverly Beck of Crestline and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Terri Eckert: her granddaughter, Christine Buckner and two grandsons Ty Radebaugh and Bret Swanger; her brother, Charlie Winch and her sister Waunita Stewart.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 12 noon, Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday with Pastor Ann Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Leesville Cemetery.
