MANSFIELD, Ohio–The Renaissance Theatre announced today that they will not be repairing the numerous potholes in their parking lot on Third Street, but will instead open them to the public as swimming pools for the summer of 2015.
Development Director Colleen Cook shared, “We are all about serving our community. It would cost us nearly $80,000 to repave our parking lot. Swimming pools are more affordable, and frankly, way more fun. Maybe we can turn them into ice skating rinks in the winter!”
The Ren will incorporate the pools into its season programming as premium seating for the new “Mansfield Swim-phony” series as well as an upcoming production of Finding Nemo.
The pools will open beginning with the first good rainstorm and will stay open all summer. The Renaissance plans to keep the concession stand open so that popcorn and soft drinks are available to swimmers as well.
When asked about the project, President and CEO Michael Miller commented, “Happy April First.”
