Richard Allen “Dick” Mott, age 64, peacefully and joyfully went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at his home in Huron, after a short journey with ALS.

Dick was born July 27, 1950. He was a lifelong resident of Shelby before moving to Huron two years ago. He was a 1968 graduate of Shelby Senior High School and a proud member of the Shelby Whippet football team.  Dick retired after 30 years of service as the Superintendent of the Shelby Wastewater Treatment Facility.  He was also a former board member of Park Village.  A man of great faith, Dick was a founding and very active member of Shelby Christian and Missionary Alliance Church where he had served as an Elder. For over 18 years, Dick positively impacted the lives of many students through Youth for Christ/Campus Life, where he was known to many as “Bible Man”.  After moving to “The Lake” he attended The Chapel in Sandusky.

Fishing and sharing the joy of fishing with others were two of Dick’s favorite activities. He was a very active outdoorsman who loved walking, hiking and bike riding. Dick was proud of his large family whom he loved dearly.  He enjoyed being the card shark of the family and loved playing with his grandkids in the water.  Two of Dick’s greatest qualities are that he had a servant’s heart and showed his love by helping others.  He was a faithful husband, strong father, playful grandpa, and loyal friend.  He will be deeply missed.

Dick is survived by his wife, Karen (Huston) Russell Mott, whom he married on February 12, 1994. Also surviving are two sons: John and Theresa (Milliron) Mott of Crestline, Steve and Jenny (Hughes) Mott of Grayson, GA; a daughter: Michelle and Major Riley Post of West Point, NY; 2 step-daughters: Laura (Russell) Reinbolt of Albany, NY; Megan (Russell) and David Shook of Mansfield; 15 grandchildren: Nathan, Logan, Alison, and Jackson Mott; Hailey, Kaitlyn, and expected child Anna Mott; Elizabeth, Saedi, Isaac, Solomon, Josiah, Gideon, and Gabriel Post; and Blake Reinbolt; 3 brothers: Matthew “Bud” Mott of Shelby, Robert “Bob” (Kimberly) Mott of Livonia, MI; Russell “Rusty” Mott of Leesville; 4 brothers-in-law: Rod (Vickie) Huston, Mark (Martha) Stentz, Jon (Linda) Stentz, and Jim Stentz; 2 sisters-in-law: Jane (Charles) Risner and Linda (Clayton) Hallmark; loved cousin: E.
